why does the standby version doesnt show any images?
As someone who downloaded this game but hasn’t played it yet, I’m honestly hesitant to start. The public version is at 0.19, while the latest is already 0.21 — and the game was updated just four days ago.
(To the developer) — I noticed that to access version 0.21, you need a Tier 2 Patreon subscription at $10/month. There’s also a $5 Tier 1 and a $15 Tier 3. While I understand the need to support ongoing development, I can’t help but compare this to other games where $6/month gives you the latest version or where public updates are released more regularly. That kind of model feels more accessible, and the current setup here can come across as a bit of a paywall — which is honestly why I haven’t started playing yet.
What also threw me off is the startup message that says “This version is outdated,” and then sends you straight to Patreon. It feels a little abrupt. A more transparent and user-friendly approach could be something like:
"The version you're playing is outdated. This is the free version — to get the latest, please consider supporting via a monthly Patreon subscription."
And this brings me to the bulletin system — I actually think it has a lot of potential. Right now, it feels more like a static shoutout, but if you combined it with the startup message in a cleaner way — like a small mail icon or a subtle popup overlay — it could be a great way to deliver both updates and notices without interrupting the experience. That way, the “outdated version” message could feel more like part of the bulletin system instead of a sales pitch.
Just my thoughts! I’m not saying the game is bad — I probably will still give it a shot — but I think these small changes could go a long way in improving first impressions.
